Money Saving Tips and Freebies!!!!

Ways to save money daily

There are a million articles out there that tell you the best ways to save money and make money. I have taken the liberty in finding the absolute best ones for you and compiling them on the blog for you. Enjoy and comments are appreciated.

  • Comparison shopping- this is an easy way to make sure that you save money. Every few months you should be checking to make sure that you aren't overpaying for you wireless and landline service, cable, as well as gas and lights. Call around to different companies and see what deals they offer as well as calling your current provider and pretending you are a new customer. There are also websites such as billshrink.com where you can comparison shop things like cell phone service, groceries, and gas prices.

  • Utilize free nights and weekends- if your cell phone company offers free nights and weekends then make most of your calls then. You'll save on cell phone overages!

  • If you use a landline phone then you should consider VoIP ( Voice over IP). You could save yourself an average of $20 every month. T-Mobile has a great VoIP service for only !15 monthly. Visit tmobile.com for more info.

  • Avoid grocery shopping while you are hungry. It's a proven fact that you spend more if you haven't eaten before you go. And don't shop daily for your grocery items. Plan a weekly menu and pick up all your items at once.

  • Always, always, always send in the mail in rebate when it is offered. It may take a while to come but if you fill it out correctly then you'll have some mone coming sometime and it's usually right on time.

  • Consignment shops- you can make money from the things you don't wear anymore by selling them at a consignment or resale shop. There are some resale shops that offer you the option of cash or in-store credit so you can either take the money or use it to buy more clothes at that store. You can do the same thing with video games and movies att stores such as Game Stop.

  • Visit newer restaurants in town, they usually have lower prices when they first open up.

  • When you go out take advantage of drink specials and happy hours. Remember the house liquor taste the same as as the others, so don't dish out extra money for more expensive liquors.

  • Save any and everything you can. Always put some money aside when ever you paid no matter how much it is. Get a savings accaount if you don't already have one and make sure you don't touch the money in it unless it's an absolute emergency. A good way to make sure that you save money is not to spend your change when you make cash purchases through out the day. Save all your change and at the end of the night put it all in a jar. Take it to the bank once a month and they will sort it, count it, and deposit it.

  • Be aware of the money in your checking account so that you won't get any overdraft fee. Write every transaction down in your bank book and balance that once a week.
  • Take any overtime shifts you can at your job. You can get double your hours sometimes.

Parkplace and Boardwalks 14 Ways to Save and Make Money!!!

  1. Start cooking at home...You will be suprised by how much money you will save by skipping out on restaurants and you don't have to be a gourmet chef or purchase an expenive cookbook to enjoy a homecooked meal. There are thousands of sites on the internet that you can visit to get great recipes that are fun or fast.

  2. Make your own coffee...Everyone loves Starbucks, but a regular cup of coffee can cost you at least $3.00 which can add up to over $1,000 dollars a year for a cup of joe. Invest in an inexpensive coffee maker, a can of Foldgers, and some disposable coffee cups and turn your kitchen into your personal cafe.

  3. Avoid late fee...Pay your bills on time every month! Late fees add up and is an unneccesary expense. If neccesary have your bills be paid automatically from your checking account.

  4. Know your balance...Always know what your balance is at your bank account so that you can avoid those nasty overdraft fees, which like the late fees are another unneccesary expense! Most banks have online banking or send email/text message alerts when your accoiunt balance is low.

  5. Don't accept the fee... avoid ATM fees at all cost. Try to only use ATMs where your bank doesn't charge you any fees. Try TCF bank where they allow some free withdrawls at non- TCF ATMs and they also allow free withdrawls at all 7/11 convenience stores. Email us at parkplaceandboardwalk@gmail.com to get information about how you can $50.00 cash when you open a TCF account.

  6. Borrow don't buy...borrow books from the library instead of buying them. Or better yet use swaptree.com , it's an online borrower's community where you can swap items such as books, video games, and dvds all for free!

  7. Always sleep on it...Avoid impulse buying at all cost. If you take some time to think about it you will usually find or be offered a better deal.

  8. Refill water bottles...If you reuse your water bottles you will save yourself tons of money. Just refill the bottles with tap water and freeze or if you don't like straight tap, invest in a water filter.
  9. Stay away from vending machines...If you know you are a snacker, along with packing your own lunch, you can prepare yourself a daily snack. Or buy in bulk. I frequent Costco's and buy tons of those small bags of chips and boxes of candy and cookies. Even going to your local gas station or convenience store will save at least a nickel per snack.

  10. Netflix...If you are a frequent movie watcher instead of going to Blockbuster utilize an online movie rental service. I even make copies of the movie for my own personal collection.

  11. Matinee show..Usually if you go to a matinee show the tickets are discounted at the movies. Take advantage of prescreenings or free viewings, you can usually see the advertisements for these in the entertainment sections or a quick Google search. During the summer going to the drive-in theater is always a great option because you usually get to see two movies for the price of one.

  12. Unplug and switch off...Save on electricity use by unplugging and turning off electronics and lights when not in use. Unscrew light bulbs that are rarely used.
  13. Sell your used junk on Craigslist, Ebay or some other kind of auction site or even hold a garage sale. You can make a lot of money and space in your house.
  14. Quit smoking...smoking cigarettes can cost at least $5.o0 per day in addition to the fact that it's a nasty habit.
